Aa-Gård’s 18 hole course
For FAMILY fun time &
COMPETITIVE players
Aa-Gård’s Disc Golf follows a path along the fjord’s shore, and will guide you across a torrent, through narrow forrest trails and vaste cow summer pasture against the mountain. You will discover on your way the best view possible of the fjord of Lavangen with its picturesque old farms and historic houses. Aa-Gård’s Disc Golf is a great looking course while adding challenge to the discipline with aesthetically pleasing elevation changes.
Our tees are in concrete with the holes being DISCatcher Pro (original) Targets. A map of the whole course can be find at the start of the course, and each tee will have its own detailed map for better performance.
Bathrooms and drinking water are available on site during ‘regular work hours’.
At Aa-Gård we are quite the animal lovers, so feel free to bring with you your dog friend. However, it is important to know that part of the course is located in a sheep pasture. Most of the summer the sheep are free roaming higher in the mountains or contained in Winter, across the road in their barn. There are a few weeks in late May/early June and mid Semptember/mid October that disc golfers will have to share the course with our herd of 150 sheep. At those times there will be a couple of gates to open and (absolutely!) close behind you. We apologise in advance for the dungs in the pasture (there’s nothing we can do about it!), so please bring some good hiking shoes! Our sheep are generally naturally shy, but some are fully domesticated so feel free to give (without being scared), a good butt scratch those coming to you.
The entree is free, but voluntary donations are encouraged to help with course maintenance and improvement. Suggested minimum donation of 50 Norwegian Krone per day or 500,- NOK for the year.
The course is registered on UDisc for you to save and compare your scores and performances!
Start of the course : by Cabin #7

DESCRIPTION of our COURSE
The base for the first throw is after cabin #7. The start of our course is perfect to practise for beginners or as warm out throws for the experienced players: straight forward, a clear visibility on the goal and no obstacle. Don’t be fooled by the apparent easiness of those first throws! This open area, next to the sea, is often the windiest, and it can add some challenge to your performance. Have a good look at the water as you go, porpoises are often swimming in the area, they look like dolphins but are in fact part of the whale family.
The next section will ask you to be more focus as you go on narrow trails through trees, and walk and throw on the side of a river ! The map at the base of each throw, will show you where to aim.
After crossing a quiet road, you will make you way up across a more dense vegetation, on the side of the mountain. The challenge will be to adjust your throws to the steepness of the track. One of the goal is waiting across a raging river, be careful to not make a mistake there !
On your way, have a look at the information signs in front of the old blacksmith’s forge, the summer cow shelter, and historical flour mill. Benches are along the trail, for a well deserve pause. In summer and autumn, a multitude of berries are on the ground, perfect for a good snack.
Once you reach the top of the hill, you will arrive in an old cow summer pasture, with a stunning view on the fjord, is in front of you. An out of bound area has been declared, with a few mandatory throws. Have a look for the white-tailed sea eagles which often hunt in the area. It’s one of the largest species of eagle in the world (up to 2,5m wide!).
In Spring or Autumn, you might meet in this pasture our flock of Gammel Norsk Sau – the original breed of sheep in Norway since the Iron Age.
The last section of our trail, downhill, is for you to practice or show off your accuracy on some very long distance throws.
The RULES
You haven’t heard yet of this new sport? No worries, here are a few explanations.
Disc Golf is played like traditional golf, but with frisbees instead of balls and clubs. One throw (stroke) is counted each time the disc is thrown and when a penalty is incurred. The goal is to play each hole in the fewest strokes possible. The player with the lowest total strokes for the entire course wins.
Some areas might voluntary made be off-limit or ‘out of bound’ and you might have to throw your disc mandatory in some imposed directions to add a bit of challenge to the fun!
The hole is completed when the disc comes to rest in a disc golf basket.
